This listing is for one handmade Blue Morpho Butterfly Bespoke Fountain Pen with REAL Blue Morpho wing Cap and Body inlay.
The color blue is all around us, but not all blues are made the same. Atomic elements (including those in pigments) and structural colors give plants, animals and minerals their intense shades of blue. Morpho butterflies such as these owe their brilliance to the structure of their wing scales. Morpho wings are pigmented brown, but they are covered in microscopic scales that have many tiny grooves that scatter light, reflecting only blue hues. That means that the shimmery blue seen is actually light refraction and not true pigment which means it cannot get wet or the color disappears.
No butterflies were hurt in the making of these pens, they were ethically sourced and collected.
It was created from our custom in house Alumilite resin blanks and turned on my lathe. The cap and body have triple start threads. The section is threaded for JoWo #6 nibs.

Our pens (and blanks) are made using Alumilite Resin, which is specially formulated for turning on a lathe AND it creates a more durable finished product, unlike some other resins/acrylics which are quite a bit more fragile and prone to shattering.
